"You've got to live and breathe it."
Those were the words spoken by singer/songwriter/creative talent, Annelle Staal after she played her new song for us at The Willow House on a sunny Thursday afternoon. We had just finished up filming a quick b-roll set at the shop when we noticed her strumming her beautiful guitar on the patio.
Never ones to pass up an opportunity to meet a fellow creative, Darrell and I soon struck up a conversation with Annelle and learned two things that stood out. First, the song she was strumming happened to be written less than 24 hours before. And second, she planned to play this new song (and many others), with her band "The Annelle Staal Trio" at the Fall Equinox event at The Willow House which takes place on September 20th, 2025 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

It was one of life's awesome moments that you stumble into without expecting it. Our work for the day was wrapped, yet here was an artist letting us into her process, still riding the spark of fresh inspiration. There was no stage, no crowd, just Annelle with her guitar and a song still warm from the pen.

Her words, “live and breathe it,” carried weight in that setting. They were not just something she said but something she was proving in real time. That is why The Willow House feels like the perfect backdrop for the Fall Equinox gathering. It is a place where art lives, where people create together, and where moments like the one we experienced are given room to grow. If that quiet afternoon was any sign of what is to come, the event on September 20th is going to be unforgettable.

Artist Biography
The Annelle Staal Trio is a Raleigh, NC–based band crafting a bold new sound at the crossroads of alternative southern indie and Americana-dance, with a free-flowing, improvisational style they consider a modern evolution of jazz. Rooted in diverse traditions of roots, rock, gospel, metal, and theater, the trio is composed of multi-instrumentalists, producers, and storytellers whose chemistry drives both their live performances and recorded work. Fronted by Annelle Staal—a multidisciplinary artist, natural storyteller, and exuberant performer with an international following through their dynamic online shows—the group blends humor, vulnerability, and fearless creativity into every set. Alongside Annelle, guitarist and producer Ben Youngblood (Frost School of Music) brings a background in blues, gospel, and Americana, while bassist and fellow Frost alumnus X infuses the music with the precision of math rock, the grit of metal, and the soul of roots music. Together, The Annelle Staal Trio delivers a genre-bending, emotionally charged experience that is as danceable as it is deeply moving.
